In about a months time, I will be travelling to India with my daughter Abby to film a documentary. It is a film that will highlight ‘Incredible India’, which is their government tourism slogan - and ‘Incredible’ it certainly is.
I have travelled to India over the last 18 years or so and seen firsthand how beautiful that country is - the colours, the people, the customs and of course, the food! When I first stepped on the tarmac at the Delhi airport, my life forever changed as I was so impacted by what I saw. I saw kids living under blue tarp, woman with tiny babies begging for food, people struggling just to find a meal….
And that is not all…there is so much need over there - it is actually hard to fathom the scale of the poverty and hardship that exists in India. I remember back in 1999 coming back and vowing I would do something to help change people’s lives. Over the years I have had the privilege to be involved with an organisation that is making a real, tangible difference in people’s lives. So that is what this documentary is really all about - highlighting the beautiful country, as well as the dire need that exists over there and what is being done to transform people’s lives for the better.
For now, I am getting my camera, audio and lighting equipment ready; with an excitement and passion in my heart and looking forward to filming the people I do love so very much.
